Upgrading to Creator

If you signed up as a Fan and want to start releasing music, you can upgrade to a Creator account from the vwaza.com dashboard. Fan accounts see an upgrade prompt on their overview page.

1

Start the upgrade

Click the upgrade prompt on your dashboard. A modal walks you through the process.

2

Provide your creator details

Enter your artist name, bio, and website. These are used for your public creator profile.

3

Verify your phone number

Phone number verification is required to complete the upgrade. This is a one-time step for security.

4

Access Studio

Once upgraded, the studio.vwaza.com quick action card appears on your dashboard and you can begin uploading content.

Profile Management

Edit your profile from the Profile section of the vwaza.com dashboard. The profile completion percentage on your overview page shows how much you have filled in.

Personal details

  • First name and last name
  • Username (unique across the platform)
  • Email address
  • Phone number

Profile extras

  • Profile picture (up to 5MB)
  • City with autocomplete suggestions
  • Country
  • Preferred currency

Username vs Stage Name

Your username and your stage name (display name) are two different things.

Username

  • Must be unique - no two accounts can share a username
  • Used for your profile URL and login
  • Set during signup and can be changed in settings
  • If the username you want is taken, choose a variation

Stage Name / Display Name

  • Does not need to be unique - multiple artists can share the same stage name
  • This is the name fans see on your releases and profile
  • Set when you create or edit your artist profile in Studio
  • Use your real stage name even if another artist has the same one

Same stage name as another artist?

That is perfectly fine. Your stage name does not need to be unique on Vwaza. If your preferred username is taken, try a variation (such as adding your country or a number), but keep your actual stage name exactly as you want fans to see it.

Account Types Explained

Individual Accounts

When you sign up at vwaza.com you choose between two account types. These define what you can do on the platform as an individual.

Fan (Listen & Discover)

  • Discover and purchase music on music.vwaza.com
  • Follow artists and build playlists
  • Support creators through direct purchases
  • Access purchased content across all devices
  • Can upgrade to Creator at any time

Creator (Create & Earn)

  • Everything a Fan can do
  • Upload and distribute content via studio.vwaza.com
  • Access analytics and audience insights
  • Set pricing and monetize your work
  • Collaborate with other creators
  • Join labels, publishers, and collectives

Group Roles

Beyond individual accounts, Vwaza supports group-based organizations. These are not separate account types: they are groups you create or join while keeping your individual Fan or Creator account. Your permissions within a group depend on your role, not your account type.

Labels

Record labels that sign and promote artists, coordinate releases, and handle distribution.

Publishers

Publishing companies that manage rights, royalties, copyright administration, and licensing.

Creative Collectives

Collaborative communities that share resources, run joint projects, and build together under a shared identity.

Artist Management

Management companies that guide artist careers, handle business affairs, and develop brands.

Account type vs group role

Your account type (Fan or Creator) is your individual identity. Your group role (Owner, Admin, or Member) defines what you can do within a specific group. A Creator can be a Member of a label, an Admin of a collective, and an Owner of their own management group all at the same time.

Owner

Full control over the group.

  • Delete the group
  • Manage all members and permissions
  • Transfer ownership to another member

Admin

Day-to-day management capabilities.

  • Invite and remove members
  • Manage content and releases
  • View analytics and earnings

Member

Standard participation.

  • Contribute to projects
  • View group content
  • Participate in discussions
