General Questions

What is Vwaza?

Vwaza is an African multimedia platform for music, TV, podcasts, and more. Music is live today, with TV, podcasts, and beats coming soon. Artists upload and sell content directly to fans, keeping 80% of every sale. Listeners browse, discover, and purchase content. There are no subscription fees and no ad-supported streaming tiers.

Is Vwaza free to use?

Yes. Creating an account is completely free for both listeners and artists. There are no subscription plans, no monthly fees, and no hidden charges. Listeners only pay when they purchase music. Artists only pay the 20% platform fee on completed sales.

What is the difference between a fan account and a creator account?

A fan account lets you browse, purchase, and listen to music. A creator account gives you access to Vwaza Studio, where you can upload content, track sales, manage payouts, and configure collaborator splits. You can upgrade a fan account to a creator account at any time from your dashboard.

What platforms does Vwaza have?

Vwaza has three main platforms, all accessible with a single account:

  • music.vwaza.com - Browse and buy music
  • studio.vwaza.com - Creator dashboard for uploading, analytics, and payouts
  • vwaza.com - Central account management

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. Vwaza is available on both iOS and Android. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store to browse, purchase, and listen to music on the go.

Who can use Vwaza?

Anyone can sign up and use Vwaza. The platform is built with a focus on African music and creators, but listeners and artists from anywhere in the world are welcome.

Buying Music

How do I buy music on Vwaza?

Browse music at music.vwaza.com. When you find a single or album you want, add it to your cart and complete the checkout. You can also buy directly from an artist's profile page. Purchased music is added to your library and available to listen to immediately.

What payment methods are accepted?

Vwaza supports several payment methods:

  • Cards (Visa and Mastercard)
  • Mobile Money (MTN, Airtel, and other providers)
  • PayPal

Can I buy music as a gift for someone?

Yes. Vwaza supports gift purchases. During checkout, you can choose to send the purchase as a gift to another Vwaza user. They will receive the music in their library along with a notification.

What are pre-orders and pre-saves?

Pre-orders let you purchase an upcoming release before it drops. You pay now and the music is added to your library on release day. Pre-saves let you save an upcoming release to your library so you are notified when it becomes available, without paying upfront.

Can I buy music without creating an account?

Yes. Vwaza offers guest checkout, so you can purchase music without signing up. However, creating a free account gives you access to your purchase history, a personal library, and the ability to follow artists.

What is the refund policy?

Because music is a digital product that is delivered immediately on purchase, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you experience a problem with a purchase, contact support@vwaza.com and the team will work with you to resolve it.

For Artists

How do I get started as an artist on Vwaza?

Sign up for a free account at vwaza.com and choose the creator account type. Once set up, log in to studio.vwaza.com to upload your music, set pricing, and start selling. There is no cost to upload or distribute your content on Vwaza.

I logged in but I cannot find where to upload music. Where is the upload dashboard?

Vwaza has separate apps for listeners and creators. If you logged in at music.vwaza.com, that is the listener app for browsing and buying music. To upload and manage your content, you need to go to studio.vwaza.com - that is the creator dashboard where you will find the upload functionality, analytics, sales tracking, and payout settings. Use the same account to sign in.

How do artists earn money on Vwaza?

Artists earn from direct sales of their music. When a listener purchases your single or album, you receive 80% of the sale price. Vwaza takes a 20% platform fee. There are no paid streaming royalties on Vwaza - all earnings come from purchases.

Why an 80/20 revenue split?

The 80/20 split means artists keep the majority of every sale. The 20% platform fee covers payment processing, hosting, content delivery, and platform maintenance. Unlike streaming platforms where fractions of a cent per play add up slowly, Vwaza's direct sales model means each transaction puts real money in your pocket.

How do payouts work?

Payouts are available via Mobile Money or Bank Transfer. In Malawi, automated instant disbursement is available through PayChangu. You can track your earnings and manage payout settings from the Vwaza Studio dashboard.

What content types can I upload?

Music uploads are live and fully supported today. TV shows, podcasts, and beats are coming soon. You can upload singles and full albums, set your own pricing, and configure collaborator revenue splits for tracks with multiple contributors.

How does Vwaza protect my content?

Vwaza uses audio fingerprinting technology to protect uploaded content. This helps detect unauthorized use and ensures your work is attributed correctly. For Malawian artists, Vwaza also integrates with COSOMA (Copyright Society of Malawi) for additional rights management.

Does Vwaza pay streaming royalties?

No. Vwaza is not a streaming service. There are no per-play royalties. Artists earn exclusively from direct sales when listeners purchase their singles or albums. This model ensures artists receive meaningful revenue from each transaction rather than fractions of a cent per stream.

Other Platforms & Distribution

Does Vwaza distribute my music to other streaming or social media platforms?

No. Vwaza is its own independent platform. When you upload music to Vwaza, it stays on Vwaza and is sold directly to fans here. Your music is not pushed to any other streaming service, social media platform, or music store. If you want your music on other platforms, you need a separate music distributor.

Can I upload music to Vwaza if it is already on other streaming platforms?

Yes. Vwaza is completely independent from other platforms and distributors. If you already released your album through another distributor, you can still upload the same music to Vwaza and sell it directly to your fans. Your existing distribution is not affected.

Do I need a distributor to use Vwaza?

No. You upload directly to Vwaza through studio.vwaza.com. No distributor or middleman is required. For a full explanation of how Vwaza compares to distributors, see the Vwaza and Other Platforms page.

Account & Security

How do I reset my password?

Go to the login page and click "Forgot Password." Enter the email address associated with your account and you will receive a password reset link. Follow the link to set a new password. If you do not receive the email, check your spam folder or contact support.

Does Vwaza support two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Yes. You can enable two-factor authentication from your account security settings at vwaza.com. This adds an extra layer of protection by requiring a verification code in addition to your password when you sign in.

Can I upgrade my fan account to a creator account?

Yes. Log in to your account at vwaza.com and navigate to your account settings. You can upgrade to a creator account at no cost, which gives you access to Vwaza Studio where you can upload content and manage sales.

The username I want is taken. Does that mean someone has my stage name?

No. Usernames and stage names are different things. Usernames must be unique across Vwaza, but stage names (display names) do not need to be unique. If your preferred username is taken, choose a variation for your username, then set your actual stage name in your artist profile at studio.vwaza.com. Multiple artists can share the same stage name. See Username vs Stage Name for details.

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account, go to your account settings at vwaza.com and select the option to delete your account. If you have pending payouts or active content, you may need to resolve those first. You can also contact support@vwaza.com for assistance with account deletion.
